I have a question. I have 6 Gridseeds and I followed the tutorial above for BTC mining. When running cgminer it recognizes all devices, but the values of Acept Share are null. And the following messages always appear. Stratum from pool 0 requested work restart Stratum from pool 0 detected new block What could be happening?

I have my device set up to cgminer and only mining Bitcoin. I am not sure if it's actually mining because when I go to the pool's website and check my worker, all of the stats are at 0 as if I'm not mining. I also receive HW errors in cgminer but I don't know what that means. Help?
Eyeboot 3 years ago
+Matthew McCleskey That means it is not working. Contact your seller and check with them, it could be a bad device. try changing mining pool too.

How would i do this under Ubuntu Linux, please?
Chev Y. 3 years ago
Hmm well tomorrow I might be able to help you out with that. If you already got it might as well mine.
Steven DeAllen Young 3 years ago
Yeah i know what you mean. I usually only deal with btc, ltc and ftc but I got a gridseed dual miner but even after I set it up it doesn't register in my pool account. So it's just collecting dust now lol.
Chev Y. 3 years ago
Some advice. for 3 months of my life I traded altcoins, attempted to mine altcoins, and became totally addicted to it. I ended up loosing about $300 total, and I almost bought one of those gridseed miners. My advice is to keep your BTC and stay away from the alts. Every time I thought I found a promising one, it was nothing but a pump and dump scam. Be careful.

Okey, so i could setup everything, worked perfectly for 2 days, but now, Gridseeds fan is working, but no leds ar flashing, i cant make my computer recognize them, are they dead? =S
Alex Marsh 4 years ago
You don't need the fan, it only waists energy.
Eyeboot 4 years ago
+Osvaldo Herman Schmale  Could be they have overheated. Try disconnecting everything and starting the setup process over again. Also could be a faulty power supply so change that if you have a spare to check. The gridseed 5A 12V power supplies are well known to break down and die.
Osvaldo Herman Schmale 4 years ago
Hello! Thank you for all the info, i dont understand how should i do all the process again if i have more than 1 gridseed, i have 2 at the moment
Eyeboot 4 years ago

Hey,  I have one of the red Gridseeds and after removing the fan I can not get it to Hash. I have tried CPUMiner, BFGMiner, and CGMiner, all work but this little guy just wont hash! 1. I get connection timed out when using the driver you provided 2. On CgMiner on another PC, CGMiner says its hashing @357 KH/s but it does not accept any work. It just keeps saying new work found over and over. This is with CGMiner 3.7.2 using the Zadig Driver.   What I dont understand is the COM port is functioning, the firmware is fine, and it actually says its hashing (in scenario 2) but the red light is not flashing. Im lost and ZoomHash has provided No tech support at all! I contacted them on the 20th and they have sent one email saying why did you unsolder the fan? thats it nothing else! Thanks for any help.
Eyeboot 4 years ago
Ok, sorry for the late reply. The red models are beta-testers so i am surprised you have one of them. They use a different driver to the gold. Which driver are you using at the moment.
Chris Reeves 4 years ago
I had 2 gridseed, then I ordered 4 more gridseed, the 4 I received pretty much do not react in anyway when I attempt to set them up the same way I set up the first 2.  When I plug power into them the fans kick on but the computer never recognizes a single one of the 4 however it recognizes the 2 I already had just fine, even when I uninstall everything and start fresh.  so to recap.  Computer does not attempt to install a driver on the new 4, but the power cable does activate their fans and I see no red or green lights at all.

+Daniel Hoffman did you try going to device manager, and un-installing the USB hubs from there? it'll force a re-boot and a re-install.
Daniel Hoffman 4 years ago
The other COM driver is CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller by Silicon Labs.
Daniel Hoffman 4 years ago
Doesn't sound like a power issue. It sounds like you have the wrong COM port driver. For whatever reason GS used a different controller on their subsequent batch, and it requires a completely different driver. I know the ones I have use the STM electronics, not sure of the other name, only that for sure there exist Gridseed that the STM driver does not work with.
Eyeboot 4 years ago
Sounds like a power issue. What PSU are you using to power them? Try running 1 at a time and see if they all work. Also try changing your power supply.
Daryl McAllister 4 years ago
I followed the video but the miner always says No devices detected
Ivy Poison 11 months ago
I have mine connected on PC power and still the same issue, nothing happens even when I try manually try installing, and in miner the same issue No devices detected. Lights do turn on (red is constantly on), fan is also spinning.
Eyeboot 4 years ago
Gridseed needs a 12V 5A psu
Eyeboot 4 years ago
Hi, it could be that your miner is DOA or that your power supply has a problem. What kind of power supply are you using? Do the lights come on?

Ryan Barnes 4 years ago
When I have my grid seed setup to mine via btcguild, on the btcguild website regardless of the difficulty my worker is set to, my cgminer constantly reports Rejected (block) xx/yy (low difficulty) and never, ever accepts blocks. What's going on here? Your config looks the same as mine too.
Ryan Barnes 4 years ago
+Eyeboot I did that and kept increasing it ever 10 minutes until I was at max and it never accepted any. I verified difficulty in cgminer as updated as well.
Eyeboot 4 years ago
Log in to your mining pool and change the difficulty rate for your miner. It should be in the workers settings section. You need a higher difficulty rate.

Hello Eyeboot, first - thanks for a nice mining guide.  I'm having troubles running 3 gridseed units on dual mode - with minerd they are running fine (as 3 instances of the program) and I tried to run also cgminer, but it looks like it did not detect the device. When I tried this on just a single unit, it worked very well. Thanks for any advice.

+Eyeboot Thanks, I'm all set and good to go thanks to your video.  Is there a way to set a failover for both of the miners (when mining in dual mode)? Thanks again.

Yep, the miner does all the hard work so your PC/laptop doesn't have too. I use an old PC as well.

Eyeboot 4 years ago
What mining pool are you using? Have you tried another mining pool? It could be that the mining pool you are using is down. Also it might be that your computer firewall/virus scanner is blocking cgminer from working.

hi for dual mining btc works fine but litecoin is giving me error pthreadGC2.dll is missing any suggestion ?
hyuhragnarook 4 years ago
+Eyeboot I was having the same problem, but adding the file to the system32 folder didn't work. I added the file to the same folder as the cpuminer where the minered.exe file is located and the problem was solved.
Eyeboot 4 years ago
You are missing this file from your Windows system directory. Updating Windows will usually fix the problem or you can just download the dll file manually and add it yourself.  Here is the download link: You need to add it to different folders depending on your version of Windows. - Windows 95,98, and Me - then add to C:\Windows\System - Windows 2000 & NT - then add to C:\WINNT\System32  - Windows XP,Vista, and Windows 7 - then add to C:\Windows\System32 Hope this works!

yes it would work perfectly fine.
Jake Powell 4 years ago
I can confirm this works, currently running 2 units each at 700mhz frequency getting 11+GH/s and approx 550KH/s total. A piece of advice, if you were mining scrypt with this device before this guide was released you will want to re-download the original modified CPUMiner software. It seems to have been patched in a way so it can work with the dualminers while they are already running, when I had the un-updated CPUMiner I kept getting errors when I would try to run scrypt mode after starting SHA-256 mode. 2 hours of messing with drivers when all i needed was a software update, there is now harmony is my mining rig again.
